STER NAWA: Internationalisation of Doctoral Schools

The STER NAWA programme supports the internationalisation of doctoral schools by enhancing the quality of education and strengthening the research carried out by doctoral candidates.

It offers Polish institutions running doctoral schools a comprehensive support package designed to:

• strengthen the quality of doctoral education,
• increase the international visibility and impact of doctoral research.

The programme achieves these goals by:

• integrating international experience into doctoral projects with a global dimension,
• expanding international mobility opportunities for doctoral candidates,
• enriching doctoral training with international and intercultural components (“internationalisation at home”),
• fostering long-term international cooperation between doctoral schools,
• increasing the number of foreign doctoral candidates and supervisors involved in doctoral training.

The programme is intended for Polish institutions operating doctoral schools that aim to build a stronger international profile, develop global partnerships, and create an environment that supports high‑quality, internationally oriented doctoral education.
