We now know the results of the 2023 Erasmus+ European Universities call for proposals. 30 new international university partnerships have been selected, which together with the previous ones makes 50 so-called European Universities bringing together as many as 430 higher education institutions.

With a record budget of €402.2 million in the Erasmus+ programme for 2021-2027, existing alliances of European higher education institutions will provide support to consolidate and expand cooperation with more than 50 additional higher education institutions. In addition, several new alliances will be able to start cooperation. The €402.2 million includes €3.2 million from the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III) to further support the participation of higher education institutions from the Western Balkan countries not associated with Erasmus+ as full partners.

Higher education institutions in the 50 alliances are located in both European capitals and remote regions, in 35 countries, including all European Union (EU) Member States, as well as Iceland, the Republic of North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Turkey, as well as Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. The alliances bring together almost 1,700 associated partners, ranging from non-governmental organisations (NGOs), businesses, cities to local and regional authorities.

From Poland, the initiative is joined by: Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa, Gdansk University of Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, SWPS University, Poznan University of Technology, Silesian University of Technology, Tadeusz Kościuszko University of Technology in Krakow, University of Silesia, University of Lodz and AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow.
