On 15 February, Manchester hosted a Conference for teachers and principals of Polish community schools, organised by the Polish Educational Society in the United Kingdom. The event brought together representatives of 23 Polish community schools and gathered over 100 participants.
The conference was opened by Elżbieta Barrass, President of the Polish Educational Society in the UK, together with the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Manchester, Ireneusz Truszkowski. During the ceremony, the Consul General presented National Education Commission medals to Polish community teachers in recognition of their outstanding contribution to Polish education abroad.
Representatives of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) also took part in the conference. Ewa Kornacka from the Office for Student Programmes and Emil Wojtaluk from the Office for Communication and Promotion led a panel for school directors and management staff entitled: “Studying in Poland and NAWA scholarship opportunities for the Polish diaspora – NAWA’s role in supporting academic mobility.”
The panel focused on study opportunities in Poland, scholarship programmes dedicated to young members of the Polish diaspora, and NAWA’s role in strengthening long-term educational ties between Poland and Polish communities abroad.
We would like to thank the organisers for the invitation and the opportunity to discuss further cooperation in support of Polish education abroad.
